Week 7 (December 17th & 18th)
On a sunny day in Argentina it was the Italians
who left the field victorious. After AS Monaco's early first half
goal, River Plate dominated the rest of the half with Mark Wallace
scoring two goals. In the second half AS Monaco stormed back controlling
the action and scoring on three straight goals by Jordan Foutch,
Addy Mueller, and Lauren Krska.

RANGERS FOOTBALL LIVES AGAIN!
December 17, 2004 was just another day of the week for most people
here in Glasgow, however not for Ranger football. Ranger players
knew that their season was coming to an end and they faced one of
their toughest challenges of the season. They were on the road playing
in a hostile environment, playing the Boys from Boca Juniors. This
marked the second and final meeting between these two clubs. Rangers
needed momentum moving into the season ending tournament and Boca
Juniors wanted to continue on their path of destruction. The last
time these two teams met the boys from Boca walked off the field
9-2 winners. Last week Rangers played short handed and Coach Wilson
had nothing but praise for his teams performance. It was to be a
repeat from last week as 3 Ranger players were unavailable. It appeared
as though it was a game time decision and after discussing the situation
with his team Coach Wilson decided to play with six players. It
was a very well played match with Ranger players pressing Boca players
and causing confusion on the field. The score was 2-1 at the half
as Rangers walked off the field. As the second half went on, Ranger
players continued to demonstrate their toughness, both mentally
and physically. Once again Blair Archer was superior in her efforts
in net. Archer took a blast from a Boca forward from almost point
blank range. She was able to catch and hold the ball even though
it struck her in the jaw area. As referees and coaches ran on to
the field, Archer waved them off motioning that she was okay. Ellie
Davidson continued her great play and had an incident early in the
game where she stepped on the ball falling on her back, she immediately
got up but went down again. Play was stopped and she was attended
too, she wanted to stay in but the rules do not allow for an injured
player to remain. In the end Boca proved to be too much for the
Rangers and at the final gun they won 3-1. Once again after the
match Coach Wilson had nothing but praise and admiration for his
club. "These girls just play with such determination and passion,
I just do not know what else to say" he said after the match.
The number one player of the game for club Ranger was Blair Archer.

(Press Release by Olympique coach Link)
"Our game started slow. We were not going to the ball. After
a few substitutions and explanations we were able to step-up the
game abit. The Rangers played a much more aggressive game than we
have seen them in the past. Bryce and Stuart worked very well together
to accomplish 3 goals. Stuart had a hat trick for us. It was an
excellent game for all."

RANGER CLUB DOES UNTHINKABLE
Ranger players' fresh off of a loss earlier in the day to the Boca
Junior club boarded a Concord jet bound for home. Why a Concord?
Because they needed to get home and fast; for the first time in
club history Ranger football was attempting to play a day night
double header. They arrived at the friendly confines of Ranger Field
on time. The team from Lyon had a full roster of players and the
Ranger club was still short handed. This would mark the third time
these two teams would meet in this short season. The first game
was a 0-0 tie and the second was a 2-1 win for Lyon. Lyon played
the second game short handed with a guest player, who, wouldn't
you know it had both their goals. Now the tables were turned with
the Ranger club being short. You could sense the anticipation and
excitement from the crowd as play began. Ranger player Lindsey Wilson
started things off with a goal on a free kick. She kicked it high
and to the right, the keeper for Lyon thought he had saved it as
it glance off of his outstretched arms and into the goal. The score
remained 1-0 at the half. The crowd could sense another tight one.
As the second half began there were several individual battles going
on, on the field. Lyon was able to cross up Ranger keeper, Blair
Archer and score. On the ensuing kick-off, Kirsten Carlsen passed
to Katie Winehauf, who passed back to Carlsen who then used the
speed she is known for and made two moves around defensive players
and calmly deposited the ball in the back of the net. The crowd
went wild and started chanted KC! KC! KC! as Carlsen is known to
the home fans. Kirsten ran around the field pumping her fist in
the air in excitement. As the game progressed you could tell the
Ranger club was getting weary. Lyon was able to execute a couple
of beautiful give and goes which turned into 2 goals. During the
second half Lindsey Wilson was demonstrating her leadership on the
field from her defensive position shouting things such as "let
it go" and "I got it". She was also trying to position
the players ahead of her. Once again she demonstrated excellent
kick-ins. Ellie Freeburn played a very determined match. She hustled
and appeared to always be in the play. Katie Winehauf played probably
one her best games of this short season. She does not appear to
be showing any signs off pain from the season ending knee surgery
from 2003. After the game she was heard saying "The knee feels
fine. I just need to get back into game shape and the more I play
the more that happens." Ellie Davidson again played a strong
game. Coach Wilson said "that is one player I can always count
on too give 100% every game, well done Ellie." The final chapter
of this innovative attempt at a day night double header was not
written the way Ranger football fans would have liked with the Lyon
club winning 5-2. As Ranger players left the field the crowd gave
them a standing ovation. Well done!!!!!

(Vfl Wolfsburg Coach Malmberg Press Release)
"It was a fast paced physical
game as both teams played hard for the full 40 minutes. Although
as a team we made numerous mental mistakes on the defensive side
the boys where able to step it up a notch on offense to maintain
the lead."
The Netherlands (AP)
In a match deadlocked at 2 goals apiece at the break, Dutch Coach
Esurk Nayr decided to employ heavy tactics to rally his team at
halftime. "I challenged their manhood in an 11-year-old way,"
Nayr began. "I told them not to be a bunch of wimps and that
the future of life as we know it depended on our success in the
second half...and what do you know, they scored five goals!! I'd
let any of them date my daughter now!"
Nayr's family could not be reached for comment. Alex Hailey was
named 'Man of the Match.'

Again due to the violence of the Dutch concession
stand workers (no more free Coke for the workers) this game was
played in an empty stadium in the Himalayas. A sheep herder who
allegedly saw the game said both teams actually divided it up and
played with mixed teams. He even said he saw the two great keepers
"Dryden" and "Hake" take the field. Since we
didn't have an accurate score (we thought sheep herders could count)
we gave them the tie and this week’s sportsmanship award.

Congratulations to Inter Milan as they finished as the only undefeated
team in Session 1. Well done ladies!!
London Times –
For the second week in a row the Highbury Gunners were playing in
Milan's San Siro Stadium, site of the 1990 World Cup Final. With
the Anderson twins back from suspension (violating team's curfew
rule) the Gunners felt like "Rebels with a Cause". Max
Willis, the Gunner's Goalkeeper, was absent due to personal issues.
With Willis out the Gunner's coach turned to Mitchell "Spiderman"
Ferris to mind the net. Ferris did every thing that he could to
keep AC Milan from scoring and succeeded with rave reviews from
fans and coaches. Ferris posted his first career shutout in the
2-0 victory over AC Milan. Payton Anderson was the only player in
the game to find the back of the net. P. Anderson scored once in
the first half and added his second in the last 15 minutes of the
game. Ferris spoke to the press after the game and repeatedly gave
props to his team's overall defensive performance.
The Gunners end the regular with an impressive 5-2 record.

Not since divine intervention with Maradonna's
"Hand of God" in the 1986 World Cup has one goal caused
as much controversy as the "no goal" in the final seconds
of the Tottenham v. Newcastle match last Saturday. After reviewing
the tape and James Dean and Scott Durbin's sworn affidavits....
the score stands. "I never said it was a goal and they know
it" said Dean. Maybe next year we'll get to watch these two
teams battle again.
(Taken off the Feyenoord team Website)
Dana opened the scoring with a good hard shot from her right wing
position. Both Miranda's, Elle and Sydney also scored in the first
half. Lindsee added three goals in the second half along with goals
by Elle, Miranda and Sydney. Jamie also scored her first ever Futsal
goal.

With Andy trying to score as many as Karl was letting
in....well, Coach Andy finished with the hat trick. Well played
game by both sides.
WATERFORD UNITED
5 CHARLTON ATHLETIC 0
Breaking their 3 game skid, Waterford's Zach "the
man" posted his first career shut-out in the goal as Jonathan
also helped with the shut-out with 10 minutes of work in the 2nd
half. A great team effort by all with goals from Thomas, Gerrit,
Jonathan, and Brandon.

OLD TRAFFORD 3
Vfl WOLFSBURG 4
- From The Daily Mirror
65,000 Old Trafford fans were steaming at the referee's decision
on calling back a Mitchell Ferris goal in the first half which helped
Wolfsburg pulled out the upset 4-3 on the field they call the Theater
of Dreams. Man U's three game winning streak came to a halt on Saturday.
"We didn't look sharp and Wolfsburg's offense took advantage
of it." The bitterly disappointed Old Trafford coach said afterwards.
The German squad jumped ahead with a 2-0 lead at half-time. After
the break, they added their goal total to 3 in the first 7 minutes
of the 2nd half. The hole Man U dug themselves seemed to be to be
too deep on this day. Garrett Andrews had a beautiful free kick
with his right boot from 20 yards out. This goal finally sparked
the Old Trafford offense. The Red Devils scored two more goals to
make it interesting at the end. Old Trafford 3 Wolfsburg 4
"The last three weeks we played inspiring football, now we
need to regroup and prepare for a great showing at the tournament."
the Old Trafford coach said.
Vfl Wolfsburg's Coach was quoted after the game..."A perfect
way to end the season and offensively one of the best games we have
played yet. Old Trafford after being down 4-1 made a late rally
and played with intensity, but our defense was able to hold on for
the victory. Brilliant Match!"
LIVERPOOL 2 WATERFORD
UNITED 5
(Quote after the game by Waterford Coach Anderson)
"Great goalie work by PJ and Thomas to keep us in the game.
Hunter exploded for 2 quick goals, Marshall another, then Thomas
finds the net to put us in a position to win. I'm very proud of
our boys!!"
