Week 1 (Oct. 28th & 29th) White Hart Lane, UK
(Spurs Press Release)
"With Tottenham coach Scott Durbin out scouting players from
Nebraska, coach Bill Jackson took the team into the first game of
the season. With 3 of the Spurs players out of the line up, coach
Jackson filled the spots with Real and PSV player Ryan, Austin,
& Spencer who all played well for Jackson who is often known
for his sideline antics. A strong performance from Cam Kellner,
who in his first ever Futsal game, turned in a hat trick and an
assist! Hunter Gorby also took charge up front while Alex "The
Flying Squirrel" commanded the goal during the first half and
kept Highbury at bay. But the older and crafter Highbury Gunners
were too much for the Spurs in the second half. Coach Jackson remained
calm on the sideline until a near brawl broke out during the hand
shake, when Highbury Coach Dean was heard to say to Jackson, "You
are no Coach Durbin!" Durbin had no comment when interviewed
by phone from the Lincoln."

"Highbury became the first side to take points off Tottenham
this season. J. Dean admitted Highbury had not been at their best
as they extended their unbeaten run by defeating Tottenham 8-6."I
couldn't wait to get to half-time because I thought we were poor
in the first half. They had three great chances - they were the
better side in the first half” said M. Anderson during halftime.
After the game he was quoted "We deserve enormous credit for
the second half. People were looking at it expecting us to win and
expecting us to get three points. "We have got the honesty
and the desire. The race is to get as many points as quickly as
possible." said newly acquired Ethan Bennett. On loan from
Old Trafford, Ameer Pinto led the Gunners with three goals (all
in the second half). J. Koch and E. Bennett each recorded two goals
while M. Anderson recorded one. The Gunners needed outstanding saves
from A. Pinto (who had complained about being hit by a missile from
the crowd) & P. Anderson."
From Udine, Italy
Udines’s victory at Amsterdam stadium eased the pressure
on coach Dean, whose side had never played a game in the Omaha Futsal
League.
“It’s an important victory but more so because the team
battled” Dean was quoted after the game. “We should
be happy because the win helps us stay in contention for the league
and it came against Ajax, where it’s difficult to win”
H. Anderson netted four (4) goals to lead the way for Udinese while
M. Wallace and T. Nomura each scored once. G. Herron (0 goal allowed)
& M. Kluver minded the nets for the team from the Serie A League.

Fiorentina Press -
"In the opening game of the season it was a tough fought match
with each team exchanging goals and goal scoring opportunities.
In the end Firorentina edged out a win against a very good Fire
squad."
Sparta-Stadion "Het Kasteel" Netherlands
"Sparta Rotterdam finished with a 9-0 win over a big and fast
Bayern side to start their Champions League campaign. The score
was not indicative of the play as the Bayern side pushed the ball
forward, but were unable to connect. Sparta Manager Dnartso; who
recently took over the club after success with Bayer Leverkusen,
(all but two of that powerful Leverkusen side transferred with Dnartso
to Sparta) said he was very proud of the teams effort. "Our
last game was a tough loss in the famous "akepot" tournament.
I was glad to see they had put that behind them and played solid
football. We have a tough schedule this year, so we'll see, but
this is one of the best teams I've ever coached!"
Estadio do Dragao, Portugal
F.C. Porto traveled to the fabeled Stadio Renzo Barbera in Palermo,
Italy for a "friendly" with Serie A contender Palermo.
Porto, tired of scrimmaging amongst themselves, used their pent
up energy to take charge and control the action. 6 different players
(Nichole, Megan, Jordan, Natalie, Liz, Alex) were able to find the
back of the net with Jordan and Nichole each getting two. Solid
keeping by Mackenzee and Lion kept Palermo in check. Coach Kelly,
subbing for the suspended coach Co, was pleased with the effort
and energy.
Estadio do Dragao, Portugal
F.C. Porto appeared to be caught off balance
as the Brazilian powerhouse Flumenese scored early and often and
send Porto into disarray. Flumenese completely dominated the first
half with quick and accurate passing. Porto's inexperience showed,
but as the players get used to each other's playing abilities, look
to improve. Porto were able to right the ship for the second half
but could only manage a goal by Meagan to avoid the shutout. Coach
Kelly, in a post game interview, indicated that Porto needs to learn
from the game and use Flumenese as a good example of how to play
the game correctly.
