Week 6 (Dec. 16th & 17th)Estadio do Dragao, Portugal
The action was fast adn furious and F.C. Porto had to play catch
up all night as they couldn't match the quickness or techical ability
of the Bundesliga giant Werder Bremen. Werder took a 2-0 lead into
half and although Porto played them even in the second half they
were not able to break through the defense to notch a score. The
game provided a great opportunity for Porto to work on increasing
their game tempo a few notches.

F.C. Porto, playing a rare game this season
in front of the home crowd, were able to halt their losing slide
with a 7-1 win over Bafana. The first half was extremely hard fought
and Porto took a 1-0 lead from the stingy Bafana defense into half
when Alex converted a cross from Megan. The Dragons rewarded their
fans as the flood gates opened in the second half with Jordan leading
the way with a hat trick, and Ally, Megan and Lion joining in the
scoring. The game was well played on both sides.

Coming into this gamed tied in the league,
both teams brought their "A" game. While PSV was still
getting into the flow of the game, that defensive specialist, Sam
Rath made a great overlapping run and shot to start off the scoring.
Luke Jatczak took advantage of playing on the field and stuck the
2nd goal in the side door. Hunter Gorby scored the first of his
3 goals of the day to finish the first half scoring to take a 3-0
lead. With the second half horn just sounding, PSV's Dan Corn, only
took one minute of the second half to jump start the scoring for
PSV. Connor Jackson followed Dan's lead and put PSV's second goal
in the top shelf in the 2nd minute. The Spurs players weren't as
nervous as Coach Scott Durbin was and took one back in the 5th minute
on Cam Kellner's solo run and goal. Hunter scored his second and
third goals with great ball skill and give & go plays. Alex
Durbin kept a clean sheet in goal during the first half and came
out on the field to score 2 goals in the closing minutes of the
second half. Spurs play the fine Ajax squad tomorrow in their final
game before the Christmas break.

In the final game before the Chirstmas break,
the Spurs were fired up to be playing in front of their home crowd.
Taking a 6-0 lead in the first half with goals scored by Luke, Sam,
Conner and 3 goals by Hunter, the Ajax team was stuned by the fast
footwork and 1 touch passing that really made the difference in
the first half. Ajax made some good adjustments in the second half
and held the Spurs to only 3 goals. Dan Corn scored a long range
bomb to start the scoring and Hunter put in his 4th goal of the
game. Sam Rath finished off a great through ball to record his second
goal of the game and 3rd goal of the weekend! Ajax's Colin Kellner
was a huge reason the Spurs had more trouble in the second half
while he held the Ajax back line in tact. He made numerous counter
attacks and finally put the red & white on the board with a
brillant solo run. Spurs go into the Chirstmas break with some major
momentum and look to finish in the top of the league.
