Week 1 (Jan. 19th)Galaxy
vs Blackpool
Galaxy's under 15 boys team had to look up (literally)to
the Blackpool under 16 girls team we played. Both teams
started off being unsure, but the girls shook that off
quickly and muscled our boys around. In the end the girls
had scored 9 goals to the boys 3. We are looking forward
to a rematch later in the season. Galaxy boys enjoyed
their 1st Futsal game, even though they got smoked.
AS Monaco vs
Hearts
AS Monaco opened the second season against the visiting
Hearts club from Edinburgh. It was a hard fought, lively
battle and the lead went back and forth throughout the
game. Jennifer opened the scoring for Monaco, but the
Hearts quickly evened the score. Liz finished a cross
by Kirsten and Jordan took a pass from Alex for the next
two goals, and the Hearts bounced back with two of their
own. Kirsten added her own goal before half. The Hearts
proved to be the fittest team in the second half as Monaco
couldn't keep up. Liz and Jordan found the net in the
second half on assists by Kiki and Jen. Well played on
both sides.
Marseille vs
Motherwell
Marseille hosted the Scottish Premier Club Motherwell.
Both teams played stingy defense in this low scoring physical
battle. Natalie had the only goal of the first half. Motherwell,
whose players bear a striking resemblence to the Hearts
players, were unable to finish. The second half was low
scoring as well, with Hannah (2) doing the only scoring
for Marseille and Ally B adding an assist. The hitting
was hard as both teams had a player go down, hopefully
nothing serious. Both teams will prove tough opponents
in upcoming matches.
